The Uncharted 4 We Almost Got | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 517

It's me, Colin! Please welcome YouTuber, researcher, and modder Michael Kemp to Sacred+. A few weeks ago, Michael uploaded a video to his YouTube channel (TheKempy) entitled "Uncovering Amy Hennig's Uncharted 4." It's an hour and a half long, but about 10 minutes in, I paused the video, found Michael's email address, and invited him onto the show. (Then I finished watching.) That's how impressed I was with what I had seen. The long-and-short of it is this: Mr. Kemp has gone to excruciating lengths to figure out what original writer and director Amy Hennig's version of Uncharted 4 was all about, using a combination of interviews, reported news, and -- perhaps most vitally! -- tons of data left in the final game's source files. Amy's exit from Naughty Dog in 2014 was dramatic and unexpected; yet, the pressure under which the final version came together in the subsequent two years after her firing is the real story. Let's get into all of the cut content, characters, features, setpieces, and more, talk about what Uncharted 4 could have been, what it ended up as, and whether we actually got the better iteration.
