Living with Trigeminal Neuralgia (Angelique's Patient Story)

As a fitness influencer, Angelique Miles (@angeliquemiles on Instagram) is deeply in tune with her body. So when she felt sudden pain in her mouth, she assumed it was dental—and quickly booked a root canal. But the real cause was far more serious: a tumor pressing on her brainstem, triggering trigeminal neuralgia on the opposite side of her face. Referred to Joshua Bederson, MD, System Chair of Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai through a close friend, Angelique underwent surgery and spent a few months in recovery. She still experiences some facial numbness and hearing loss, but she’s back to her workouts and creating content. She is incredibly grateful for the care that helped her heal and the intuition that led her to seek help in the first place. #WeFindAWay #neurosurgery #trigeminalneuralgia
