In this video we will solve problem 8.17 from chapter 8 of the book Fundamentals of Electrical Circuits by Alexander Sadiku. This problem is about an RLC circuit without a source with an overdamped response. For this problem we will find the initial and final conditions of the inductor and capacitor. Then we will find the damping factor, resonant frequency and natural frequencies. What is a critically damped circuit? The circuit is said to be overdamped because two superimposed exponentials lead the current to zero. A circuit will be overdamped if the resistance is high relative to the resonant frequency.
