Thirty years later, our editor Phil Miller uncovered documents at the UK archives which showed a British SAS officer had given advice to India on how to carry out that raid. It triggered a scandal in the UK, with then prime minister David Cameron ordering an inquiry. But that probe downplayed the significance of Phil's findings, and angered many in the Sikh community who saw it as a whitewash. For more than a decade now, they've been calling for a full public inquiry, something which Labour when in opposition repeatedly promised to give to the Sikh community.
