Chad Munoz a made member of the "New Mexican Mafia" an established gang since 1974 whose members splintered off from the original California "Mexican Mafia", had fallen out of favor and soon he found himself marked for death. The man who decided he would carry out Munoz's murder was an up and coming gang member by the name of Timothy Bernal Jr. Bernal who was hoping to be accepted into the "New Mexican Mafia" which is the most powerful prison gang in Arizona and controls much of what goes on behind bars and on the streets.
