Zwoele zomeravond vol muziek tijdens KlapstoelenFestival in Monnickendam

On Friday evening, June 26, the garden of the Orphanage in Monnickendam served as the backdrop for an atmospheric and small-scale music festival: the KlapstoelenFestival 2026. With their own chairs under their arms, dozens of visitors gathered in and around the garden of the Orphanage to enjoy a relaxed evening full of live music. The free-to-attend event, organized by the SoundBites Festival, featured a varied program with both experienced artists and young talent. Guitarist Jan Wouter Oostenrijk managed to enchant the audience with his virtuoso playing, while the duo Wendy & Anton created an intimate atmosphere. Up-and-coming musicians were also given a stage and were enthusiastically received by the audience. The KlapstoelenFestival is a familiar concept in Monnickendam. Formerly known as the Klapstoelenconcert, where visitors bring their own chairs and find a spot in and around the historic Orphanage garden. Now, the Soundbites Festival has taken the concert under its wing, and the name has been changed to the Klapstoelenfestival. And apart from the name, nothing has changed. And the warm character of the concert has certainly remained. Those who missed the event this year need not despair. The organization is already hinting at future editions. For updates, photos, and new announcements, interested parties can keep an eye on the SoundBites Festival website and social channels.
