For a month we made Polignano a Mare our home base, perched above turquoise cliffs and alive with local energy. From here, we explored the region’s icons: the Trulli of Alberobello, the whitewashed maze of Ostuni, the golden Baroque streets of Lecce, the gritty authenticity of Bari, the alleys and caves of Matera and the seaside charm of Monopoli. Each week brought a new festival parades, music, and fireworks — where we found ourselves singing karaoke with locals late into the night. Food was the heartbeat of the trip: focaccia, orecchiette, grilled meats, and rustic wines that defined the region’s flavor. Midway through, we broke away for a detour to Napoli and Capri, catching a Napoli futbol match that electrified the stadium and reminded us why passion runs so deep here.
