It is primarily involved in facilitating movement and interaction with the environment. The appendicular skeleton is divided into two main regions: Fore Limbs or Upper Limbs and Hind Limbs or Lower Limbs. In this video, we will focus on the Fore Limb or Upper Limb which contains: Pectoral Girdle: Connects the upper limbs to the axial skeleton. Clavicles (collarbones) Scapulae (shoulder blades) Upper Limb Bones: Humerus (upper arm bone) Radius and Ulna (forearm bones) Carpals (wrist bones) Metacarpals (hand bones) Phalanges (finger bones) Together, these structures allow for a wide range of motion, locomotion, and manipulation of objects. The appendicular skeleton works closely with the axial skeleton (which includes the skull, vertebral column, and rib cage) to provide structural support and protection.
