Exploring the Manteno State Hospital Cemetery

Today's adventure takes us to Manteno, Illinois and the site of the former Manteno State Hospital. This was not a hospital in the traditional sense. This was an asylum for the mentally ill and criminally insane. Many experiments were conducted on these patient that, in today's world, would be considered torture. Lobotomy's and electroshock therapy was commonplace. Many patients ended up in a vegetable-like state until they died. After death, they ended up buried in a non-descript field about a mile away with only a small headstone to mark their existence. Although the hospital is long gone and the cemetery has changed it's name, there are still over 4,000 souls buried there. It also appears that these souls are not resting peacefully as you will see in the video. So come join me as we explore the Manteno State Hospital Cemetery.
