UEC++ From Basics to Advanced | M07-005: Camera Director Enhanced -- Struct Array and Auto-Discovery
This video improves the CameraDirector with two enhancements. First, we replace individual camera pointers with a TArray of FCameraInfo structs, each containing an AActor pointer and a per-camera blend time. This allows different transition durations for different cameras. Second, we use GetAllActorsOfClass in BeginPlay to automatically discover all ACameraActors in the scene, eliminating the need for manual pointer assignment in the Level Blueprint. We implement a CameraIndex that cycles through the array (increment, wrap to zero on overflow) and use SetViewTargetWithBlend with each camera's custom blend time. The video also covers ensure for validation, the importance of clearing output arrays before passing them to GetAllActorsOfClass, and a note about re-scanning when cameras are dynamically added or removed during gameplay. A brief discussion on function length best practices (keep under 100 lines) is included.
