Weather update (July 10, 11 a.m.): At 10 a.m. Friday, Typhoon Inday was located 570 km east of Itbayat, Batanes. It packs winds of 140 kph with gusts up to 170 kph and is moving northwestward at 20 kph. Wind signal no. 2 is still up over Batanes, eastern Babuyan Islands, and Santa Ana, Cagayan. Signal no. 1 remains in effect over the rest of Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, eastern Mountain Province, eastern Ifugao, northern Abra, and Ilocos Norte. Stormy weather will prevail in Batanes through Saturday morning, when Inday is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility. Inday-enhanced Habagat will also persist over the western sections of the country through the weekend. Moderate to heavy rains may affect Lanao provinces, Zamboanga del Sur, Negros, Western Visayas, MIMAROPA, western portions of CALABARZON and Central Luzon, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, and Metro Manila through midday Monday next week. Widespread and serious flooding and landslides are possible in these areas.
