Chaukori – Uttarakhand’s Hidden Gem | Birthi Waterfall, Drone Crash & Magical Sunrise. What started as a peaceful drive from Munsiyari to the hidden Himalayan village of Chaukori quickly became one of the most unforgettable experiences of our journey. Leaving Munsiyari in the morning, we planned to stop at the beautiful Birthi Falls before heading towards Chaukori. The drive was short but incredibly scenic. After reaching, we had a peaceful mountain breakfast and started the short hike to the waterfall. Surrounded by lush greenery and mountain landscapes, Birthi Falls looked absolutely massive and beautiful. 💧 About Birthi Waterfall Birthi Falls is one of the most famous waterfalls in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and drops from approximately 400 feet, especially becoming more powerful during monsoon season. Located on the Munsiyari route, it serves as a refreshing stop for travelers exploring the Himalayas. But the mountains had a different adventure waiting for us… 🚁 The Drone Disaster We Didn't Expect While continuing our drive towards Chaukori, we found a beautiful riverside location and decided to capture a cinematic drone shot of the river and road. Everything was perfect… Until one small mistake changed everything. While flying low near the river, I misjudged the distance and accidentally hit hidden wires. Within seconds, our drone crashed straight into the river. Panic mode ON 😰 We immediately ran down searching through the riverbed. Thankfully, water levels were low in that section, and following the last known direction, we entered the river hoping for a miracle. For a moment, we thought it was gone forever. And just when I was about to give up… I saw it underwater. Finding it felt like getting a second chance. After waiting and letting it dry for some time, we continued the journey — relieved that we had found it, but still unsure whether it had survived the damage. 🏡 Exploring Chaukori – The Hidden Side of Uttarakhand Unlike crowded hill stations, Chaukori feels peaceful, untouched, and slow. Chaukori is a small hill village in the Kumaon region famous for its tea gardens, Himalayan views, calm atmosphere, and incredible sunrises. There aren’t many tourist attractions here — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. Small markets, quiet roads, mountain weather, and beautiful views from almost every corner make this place feel like a hidden world. 🌅 A Sunset & Sunrise We Won’t Forget As the evening arrived, we witnessed a beautiful sunset before ending the day with dinner and preparing for one final memory. The next morning, we woke up early to capture sunrise from the tower viewpoint inside our resort. And man… What a view. Golden sunlight slowly touching the majestic Panchachuli Peaks while clouds floated across the valleys created one of the most beautiful moments of our trip. Before heading back to Delhi, we made one final stop at Kalimath Waterfall — a short and refreshing hike surrounded by nature. Sometimes the best trips aren’t the ones that go perfectly.
