U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said upon arriving in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday that he was visiting the Gulf region "to make sure their views are taken into account" as the United States moves forward with negotiations with Iran. "We are here to listen to them more than to talk to them," Rubio told reporters on the tarmac at Abu Dhabi airport, adding that he wanted to hear their economic and security concerns. "We want to hear their views, particularly in light of what happened this weekend in Switzerland, and make sure their views are taken into account in every decision we make, because they are our partners," Rubio said as he embarked on a tour to the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. He will also meet with officials from the Gulf Cooperation Council during the three-day trip. Rubio added that all allies are "in agreement on peace," but cautioned, "Of course, everything depends on the details of that peace, which we will work out." "The work is ongoing.
