STOP Diabetic Retinopathy: Skills Training in Ophthalmic Photocoagulation

This presentation reviews the spectrum of clinical findings in diabetic retinopathy, its classification and appropriate treatment strategies. The skills necessary for effective intervention in this common blinding disease are highlighted. At the conclusion of this presentation, the student will: • Be familiar with the ophthalmoscopic appearance of diabetic retinopathy. • Recognize the critical fundus lesions which require a treatment decision. • Be familiar with a variety of available treatment strategies.
