The two vessels, carrying approximately two million barrels of crude oil for Indonesia, had been stuck since Saturday, March 14, 2026, after Iran threatened to fire on any vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz. For the safety of their crews, the two vessels took refuge in the Arabian Gulf while waiting for the security situation to improve. The success of the two vessels in navigating the Strait of Hormuz was the result of a thorough risk assessment and intensive coordination between the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, and PT Pertamina International Shipping.
