India's first undersea tunnel for a bullet train is being constructed as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor project. This tunnel, which is 21 kilometers long and includes a 7-kilometer section beneath Thane Creek, will connect the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) station in Mumbai to Shilphata. This marks a significant advancement in Indian infrastructure and high-speed rail technology. The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR), or Mumbai–Ahmedabad HSR, is an under-construction high-speed rail line, which will connect Mumbai, the financial hub of India, with Ahmedabad, the largest city in the state of Gujarat. When completed, it will be India's first high-speed rail line, with a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph).[4][5] The line is being developed by National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Indian Railways, the Ministry of Railways and the Government of India. The line will use Shinkansen technology from Japan, including rolling stock, signalling and design standards – with technology transfer to support the Make in India programme.
