Comprendiendo la Poderosa Sabiduría de El Señor de los Anillos | Tolkien Explicado (Cartas)

We travel to Middle-earth to understand one of the deepest lessons of wisdom from the entire trilogy: the desire for power. And what better way to do so than through Tolkien's own writings (The Lord of the Rings and his letters) and Peter Jackson's films. Once again, it's a pleasure to share this with you. Toni CHAPTERS: 0:00 - The Ring 3:52 - Tom Bombadil 5:54 - Sauron and Saruman 9:16 - Boromir 11:23 - Faramir 14:26 - Galadriel 16:08 - Sam 17:35 - The Greatness of LOTR SUMMARY In The Lord of the Rings, characters like Gandalf, Galadriel, Faramir, and Aragorn face temptation and choose to renounce it. Gandalf rejects the Ring because he knows his desire to do good would make him a just tyrant, worse even than Sauron. Galadriel, faced with the prospect of reigning as a feared and revered queen, also chooses humility. Boromir, on the other hand, partially succumbs, believing that the power could be used to save his people, showing that even good intentions can lead to corruption. Tom Bombadil is the exception, immune to the Ring because he has no desire for dominion or possession. He represents the opposite extreme to figures like Sauron and Saruman, who seek to impose perfect order at the expense of freedom, believing that chaos and free will are wrongs that must be corrected. The danger of the Ring lies not only in its power, but in the need to use it. As Tom Shippey points out, any attempt to control this power inevitably leads to tyranny and self-enslavement. This temptation affects even the most humble, like Sam, who briefly imagines an ideal world under his control, but his love for Frodo and his common sense allow him to resist. Tolkien distinguishes between two forms of power: that which is imposed to dominate and that which is offered to serve. Aragorn embodies the latter type, accepting kingship as a duty, not a privilege, and being recognized by his people. This is the essential difference between him and figures like Sauron, Saruman, and Boromir, who see power as a means to achieving glory or perfection. Ultimately, Tolkien's work does not condemn power itself, but the desire to wield it. The greatness of The Lord of the Rings lies in that it is a story of renunciation. #tolkien #lordoftherings
