[설악산 봉정암]순례자의 길(백담사-봉정암)왕복 21.2km 산행시간 9시 20분 / 고단함을 잊게하는 최고의 단풍 코스 /

This is a video of my visit to Bongjeongam Hermitage on Seoraksan Mountain on Hangeul Day, October 9th. We arrived at the Baekdamsa Temple parking lot at 6:20 AM and took the first shuttle bus to Baekdamsa Temple at 7 AM. From Baekdamsa Temple, the 10.6km one-way pilgrim's path begins, and the flat path continues to the Suryeomdong Shelter. The path is also incredibly beautiful with the fall foliage, so if you're hesitant to hike all the way to Bongjeongam Hermitage, we recommend stopping at the Suryeomdong Shelter. The peak foliage at the Suryeomdong Shelter is expected next weekend (October 19th). After passing the Suryeomdong Shelter, the real hike begins, and from here on, there are many uphill climbs. However, the series of enormous waterfalls, including Gwaneum Falls and Ssangyong Falls, is a feast for the eyes. The surrounding fall foliage and the cascading Yongajangseong Fortress make the hike to Bongjeongam Temple seem effortless. This section is expected to peak on the 12th and 13th. At the latest, the fall foliage is expected to reach its peak by mid-week next week (the 14th and 15th). There's a saying that fire falls on Cheonbuldong, but Gugokdam is certainly no less impressive. Personally, I found it even more impressive than Cheonbuldong. Ssangyong Falls, in particular, is of a different scale. Guryong Falls on Odaesan Mountain's Sogeumgang River boasts a staggering size. Aside from Towangseong Falls and Daeseung Falls on Seoraksan Mountain, I believe this is the largest waterfall in Korea. Also, Bongjeongam's Haetal Pass is currently ablaze with red. This is the most impressive section I've ever seen. This was my first time seeing such beautiful fall foliage. I'd only heard rumors about Bongjeongam, but I finally realized it's the best fall foliage spot this year when I visited. There are many people practicing and praying near the stupa, so please refrain from making too much noise or disturbing them. The round trip from Baekdamsa Temple to Bongjeongam was 21.2km, and it took 9 hours and 20 minutes, including the time spent at Bongjeongam. I rushed to catch the bus, so it took 9 hours. If you get plenty of sleep and move slowly, you should be able to complete the hike in about 10 hours. The difficulty level is similar to that of Seoraksan's Osaek Course.
