Rose Picker - From inside | Maeen Al-abidi | TEDxTaiz

From a village in Taiz to the list of 100 inspiring and influential women around the world according to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Maeen Al-Abidi, a Yemeni woman from Taiz Governorate, was born and raised in a small village. Still, she defied the circumstances and achieved great success in her professional and humanitarian life. She was the only woman who worked in the field of local mediation in an attempt to reach peaceful settlements between warring parties in Yemen. She is a lawyer and a human rights and community activist. She is a member of the Women's Advisory Team at the United Nations Special Envoy's Office to Yemen (TAG). She founded the Mu'ayin Center for Community Development and has participated in various local organizations and initiatives. She has provided legal assistance to incarcerated and impoverished women and works as a local mediator. She also monitors human rights violations against civilians. She has represented Yemen in several local and international conferences and was selected by the BBC as one of the top 100 influential and inspiring women around the world for the year 2022 This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
