Climbing Montana's Granite Peak

Multi-day approach and summit of Montana's tallest mountain, Granite Peak, which stands about 12,799ft tall. This near 20 mile round trip includes miles of trail that dwindle off above Huckleberry Lake. The boulder fields above Princess Lake, and especially around Avalanche Lake, sapped a lot of time and energy. It was still worth taking the route to camp at the high altitude Princess Lake. Plenty of trout and goats! The upper mountain can look quite different in photos.
