What's new on the UniProt website: features and improvements for 2026

UniProt is a comprehensive, expert-led, publicly available database of protein sequence, function, and variation information. Join us for an engaging webinar that will guide you through the new and enhanced features and functionalities of the UniProt website. Designed with user experience at the forefront, the website offers seamless access to the comprehensive data provided by the UniProt consortium. This webinar will showcase recent updates to the UniProt website, designed to make it easier to explore protein data and navigate connections between resources. We will begin with new data and annotations in the website, including the Alliance of Genome Resources (AGR) orthology, expanded AlphaFoldDB structure views, and new Post-translational modification (PTM) annotations. We will then cover updates to UniParc and Proteomes, followed by improvements to how UniProt handles inactive entries, ID mapping, and cross-references. Who is this course for? This webinar is designed for both new and experienced UniProt users interested in learning about the latest enhancements to the UniProt website. While no prior bioinformatics knowledge is necessary, a basic understanding of biology at the undergraduate level will be helpful. For a general introduction to UniProt please see ‘A guide to UniProt for Students’ This webinar is designed as a general tour of recent updates. For more context-specific learning please see the recorded webinars on the UniProt training page. Outcomes By the end of the webinar, you will be able to: Navigate recent additions to the UniProt website, including the Sequence Annotation page and expanded AlphaFold protein structure views Find new annotations in the Feature Viewer and locate expanded help documentation Use improved search, cross-reference, and ID mapping features across UniProtKB, UniParc, and Proteomes Speakers: Minjoon Kim Swaathi Kandasaamy Antonia Lock
