Have you ever heard of the Pascoelinha Festival in the Juazeirinho district of Conceição do Coité, in the interior of Bahia? If you haven't yet experienced this festival, you urgently need to! It's a traditional and cultural celebration with almost 90 years of history, blending various cultural expressions such as a parade of horsemen and horsewomen, masked figures (called "caretas"), Bumba-meu-boi, Capoeira, Samba de Roda and Reisado, the burning of Judas with the reading of a will, a party with various bands, and lots of fun. The Juazeirinho community comes together in this cultural melting pot, demonstrating how younger generations can still combine the new with the traditional. Juazeirinho is 12 km from Coité and is one of the main districts of the municipality. Pascoelinha usually takes place after Holy Week and Easter (perhaps that's where its name comes from, "little Easter" or "post-Easter" = Pascoelinha).
