Empress DRIVE - A Random Stream of Consciousness Test !!
The new DRIVE pedal from Empress has to be the most rich and even-sounding overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedal I've ever played! This entire video is essentially what I do when first sitting down with a new drive pedal - exploring different aspects of the sound and seeing how it responds. It's pretty much a random stream of consciousness as I react to the pedal in real time. What immediately stood out to me was how balanced the harmonic content is. The overtones feel remarkably even across the spectrum, which means you can play full chords with close internal harmony and have every note speak clearly without any particular note dominating the chord. What you're hearing here is straight from my iPhone video recording - no studio treatment, no polishing, just the sound of a microphone in the room. I've got an idea for a much more ambitious video featuring this pedal, so keep a subscribing eye out for that one! #EmpressDrive #EmpressEffects #GuitarPedal #OverdrivePedal #GuitarTone #AmbientGuitar #GuitarGear #pedaldemos #firstimpressions
