Woodturning| An Ash Potpourri Bowl with Unique Character and Challenges

🌳 In this video, join me as I showcase the mesmerizing transformation of a potpourri bowl crafted from locally sourced ash that I've been seasoning since the beginning of 2022. The journey with this piece was filled with surprises, from punky spalty areas to beautifully figured grain, creating a truly unique and character-filled woodturning experience. 🛠️ Throughout the process, I used O3 adhesives strategically to stabilize and seal cracks, as well as address any punky or wormhole areas. The key to a flawless finish lies in the choice of materials, and for this project, I opted for ‪@ChestnutProducts‬ Cellulose Sanding Sealer, ‪@EasyWoodTools‬ Yorkshire Grit, and finally, Chestnut Products Microcrystalline Wax. 🌀 Adding intricate detailing to the rim was a highlight of this project, achieved with precision using my Simon Hope Mini Texturing Tool and the versatile Dremel 8260. These tools allowed me to enhance the visual appeal of the bowl, highlighting its natural beauty. 🪵 Sadly, this turning also had an unexpected visitor—a worm. While the little critter didn't make it through the process, its presence adds a unique layer to the story of this particular creation.
