In interstitial cystitis, or painful bladder syndrome, Hunner's lesions are not tumors. They are areas of inflammation. Therefore, treating them as if they were—aggressively removing or coagulating them—can worsen the situation. 👉 The bladder is already sensitive and fragile. Invasive procedures can increase inflammation, promote fibrosis, and perpetuate the pain. 😣 This doesn't mean they shouldn't be treated, but rather that they must be addressed in a very controlled manner and within a comprehensive strategy. In these patients, the goal is not to 'remove a lesion,' but to understand and treat the underlying disease.
