As a lifelong fan of the show, I had high hopes but this series just wasn’t exactly what I expected. After reading the full five-issue series written by J. M. DeMatteis, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. The comic skips the story fans had been waiting decades to see, introduces a plot that never quite lands, and features artwork that can be difficult to overlook. Still, the series does manage to capture one important thing and that's the heart of Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s relationship. In this video, I break down the entire Spider-Man ’94 comic series, what works, what doesn’t, and why this long-awaited continuation ultimately feels like a missed opportunity.
