In this broadcast filmed by Radio Télévision Suisse at the Théâtre de l’Atelier in Geneva, after a biographical introduction by actor Jean Landier, Wilson is first seen in tight close-up, appreciating a mid ‘30s recording of himself playing the gem “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” from when he was a newly joined member of Benny Goodman’s band. Wilson was making a stop while on tour in Europe, coming from Denmark for shows in Switzerland and tells Landier that he came alone and was playing with local musicians. After answering more questions about his past and future activities, two join him for the rest of the broadcast and connoisseurs of European jazz will be tickled to see future stalwarts of the scene in bassist Isla Eckinger and drummer Peter Giger bouncing along with Wilson. They play more standards for which Wilson had a fondness: “Body and Soul”, which he first recorded with Goodman and Gene Krupa back in 1935, and “After You've Gone”, a song he would revisit often. The camera work is sublime, allowing viewers to get as close as possible to the band and see Wilson’s nimble fingers along the keys of the gorgeous-sounding Blüthner.
