Humans crave a permanent, everlasting, and gratifying point of rest out of which could arise right action under all circumstances at all times. Life is a swing between order and chaos. The temporary order we create out of the vast chaos and meaninglessness of the cosmos demands deeper meaning. We, in this temporary order, frightened by death, confused by the past, struggling with conflicts in our life, either escape the responsibility of figuring out things by blindly conforming to tradition and adopting group identity or give up the search for meaning and declare life to be meaningless. I propose that shared subjective morality could be the answer to this confusion and anxiety of ours. While we can create a temporary order, beyond this cycle of order and chaos, there is the state of being, which is pure and undisturbed—a point of unity with the source of life itself. This is described in the ancient system of Yoga as Samadhi or Kaivalya, in the Upanishads as Brahmn, by the Buddha as Nirvana, and in ancient Hindu philosophy as Moksha or Enlightenment. I not only talk about temporary order and subjective morality that we share with other people but also about transcending these to have enlightenment, to arrive at truth, which would then manifest as permanent peace in our life and would be the source of eternal beauty.
