They wanted to avoid the accusation of complicity in the crimes. To this day, many people grapple with the question of what Germans actually knew and how they behaved. What information about the Holocaust was accessible in the German Reich? What did Germans who were not directly involved in the atrocities and were not themselves persecuted perceive? How did relevant information and rumors spread at that time? And what did individuals do with their knowledge? These are central questions of the exhibition, which are the focus of the panel discussion with members of the Academic Advisory Board.
