The Surgical Pause: Preoperative Frailty Screening and Prehabilitation

This recorded, knowledge-based presentation provides healthcare teams with the evidence supporting preoperative frailty screening and prehabilitation as a key intervention to improve surgical outcomes. Data from multiple VA Medical Centers and a large private sector hospital will be reviewed as the origin story of this practice is reviewed along with its replication across the country. Engaging and visual, the presentation also summarizes the validation and implementation of the Risk Analysis Index (RAI)-a point-of-care, real time measure of surgical frailty.
