It's been a difficult time for some Indigenous communities and reaction has been mixed after a CBC Fifth Estate investigation into Buffy Sainte-Marie. That reports calls into question her claims of Indigenous ancestry. Buffy Saint-Marie has been a cultural icon for decades. Her music and advocacy focused on injustices facing Indigenous communities. But now her claims to Indigenous ancestry are being contradicted and questioned..by members of her own family... and by documents obtained by The Fifth Estate. "In a public statement, Buffy Sainte-Marie called The Fifth Estate's allegations 'deeply hurtful.' She continues to claim an Indigenous identity." For more reaction we've reached Jade Harper.
