Emergency Medicine is Dead!
Did you see what just happened in 2023 Emergency Medicine match? It's a sure bet that the specialty of Emergency Medicine is dead, or is it? I spoke with Dr. Christopher Doty, Vice Chair of Education at the University of Kentucky Department of EM. He is a master educator and a previous program director of Emergency Medicine. Even more important to me, he was my program director when I was an EM/IM resident at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Chris breaks down what happened during the 2023 match, the factors that lead to this, and what he thinks we can do to right the ship moving forward. What are your thoughts on this?
