Chronicles of a Black Filmmaker: Imruh Bakari Talks to Linton Kwesi Johnson

On 26 October 2022, the George Padmore Institute (GPI) and 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning hosted Imruh Bakari and GPI Trustee Linton Kwesi Johnson for a conversation titled Chronicles of a Black Filmmaker. Imruh Bakari, pioneering filmmaker, lecturer, writer and poet talks about his long career in films, as director and producer; the challenges faced by young black aspiring filmmakers during the 1980s and early 1990s; working with the late Menelik Shabazz and the late Henry G Martin; and curating film festivals in Africa. 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning is a centre for visual arts, education and creative enterprise.
