The royal party travels south from Winterfell while the Stark family begins to splinter. Ned departs for King’s Landing with Sansa and Arya, Jon Snow heads north with Tyrion to join the Night’s Watch at the Wall, and Catelyn stays behind to watch over the comatose Bran. On the kingsroad, a clash between Arya, Joffrey, and a butcher’s boy ends with Arya’s direwolf Nymeria attacking the prince; Arya is forced to drive Nymeria away, and Cersei demands retribution, leading to the execution of Sansa’s innocent direwolf, Lady.
