Vintage Book Pages to Hand-Drawn Botanicals (Real Time, No Edits)

These started as pages torn from an old vintage book — the kind most people would toss. I painted them white so I could draw on top, then sketched the flowers with a watercolor pencil and added color with watercolor crayons. They are mounted on coffee-dyed paper I cut down myself, and every piece is edged with drywall tape I bought at an estate sale for 25 cents. Yes!! Drywall tape! That's the whole supply list. An old book, some paint, coffee, and a quarter's worth of tape. This is how most of my pieces start — not with a trip to the craft store, but with something I already had or found for next to nothing. No script, no do-overs, just me figuring it out as I go. These little botanicals didn't stay just paper either — they became part of a full canvas piece I'll be sharing soon. If you've ever looked at a blank page (or an old book you almost threw away) and didn't know where to start, I hope this helps you see it differently. It's always fixable, and it's always worth starting.
