The Mallard - The Mallard (2010; restored) - FULL EP; Gapless Audio
I tracked down a second edition of The Mallard self-titled cassette of 4 track recordings, digitized the tape and corrected some issues found in the second edition. This cassette was originally given away or cheaply sold at early concerts by founding band member, Greer McGettrick. These are the same eight songs given to John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees, during a chance meeting. They would lead to John signing The Mallard to Castle Face Records, and releasing both of their full length LPs before their breakup in 2013. The following text is taken from the back of the included cardstock insert, and I have added the timestamps for convenience. THE MALLARD SIDE A RECORDED 4.19.10 FLOATING (00:00) 1999 (03:24) EX (07:00) FAULT (09:22) SIDE B RECORDED 7.14.10 SONG ABOUT THE DEVIL (12:27) SHELLY AND PATTY (16:14) SMALL TRICKS (19:35) OLD HATES TATESALE (22:50) ALL SONGS BY GREER MCGETTRICK RECORDED ON 4 TRACK [email protected] thanks to dillon, cade, alex the great, noah and reid CORRECTED. I removed unnatural gaps between each song that were mistakenly added to the second edition. Fixed the volume and speaker balance of side B to more accurately match side A. NOT CORRECTED. There is the distinct sound of cell phone interference twice at the beginning of track 2, "1999". Without tracking down a handmade original version of the cassette (very unlikely), I have no way of knowing if this error was only present on the second edition, like the unfortunate gaps. Side A and B were recorded on two separate dates across two different sessions. The resulting tracks sound slightly farther away on side B. I could only correct the volume discrepancy, not the overall sound difference.
