Seeds of Culture: How Wheat Shaped our History (Full Talk)

Welcome to the very first Premiere of New Leaf Foods' latest project: Food for Health: an educational project that brings together local experts on nutrition, biology, gardening, sustainable agriculture, cooking, and community health to share how the food we grow, prepare and enjoy impacts lifelong health. We will discover not only how good food can improve our personal health but also how it can enhance community well-being and regenerate land, air and water for generations to come. Our fist entry into Food For Health is "The Whole Wheat Story in Four Courses" which is a we will explore the value and quality of wheat and its remarkable story through the lens of history, nutrition, agriculture, culinary arts, and health. Each talk covers one of these topics and the first entry is "Seeds of Culture: How Wheat Shaped our History". In this fascinating presentation, PHD biologist, Vicki Medland, talks about how edible grasses were domesticated and how ancient Neolithic civilizations used those grains from cultivation to cooking. This talk was presented live at the Brown County Central Library. If you'd like to catch The Whole Wheat Story in Four Courses live all you have to do is sign up with the link below. We have three more talks coming up this June which you can view while you're there: https://www.newleaffoods.org/food-for...
