Riding Out a Typhoon | A Cozy Night in a Japanese Campervan
π§ For the best experience, please turn on CC (subtitles). The weather changed faster than expected. As two typhoons approached Japan, Karin and I searched for a safe place to spend the night. Strong winds arrived, the rain became heavier, and flooded roads made the journey increasingly challenging. After finding shelter at a quiet roadside station, the storm continued outside while the campervan became our warm little refuge. Back inside, I enjoyed a local strawberry dessert before opening my tiny solo izakaya. Slowly grilling scallops, shiitake mushrooms, satsuma-age, grilled squid, and cod roe while sipping cold beer and Japanese whisky made for one of the coziest evenings of the journey. Later that night, Iβd like to introduce one of my favorite French campervan YouTube channels, Sadako Camp. Their peaceful adventures have inspired me for a long time, and I hope that one day Karin and I can travel through the French countryside in our campervan too. The rain continued through the night, but falling asleep to the sound of raindrops on the roof is still one of my favorite parts of traveling during Japanβs rainy season. The next morning, the storm had finally passed. Karin and I enjoyed a quiet breakfast together before cleaning up and continuing our journey across Japan. Even though the rainy season continues, so does the adventure. ββββββββββββββ π Camper 2012 Toyota Camroad βCREA 5.3Xβ πΆ Travel Companion Karin (Miniature Dachshund) π Filmed in Japan ββββββββββββββ β¬οΈ Chapters 00:00 Preview 00:18 Driving Toward the Storm 00:45 Walking Karin Before the Typhoon 01:49 Escaping the Typhoon 02:37 Safe at the Roadside Station 04:16 Local Strawberry Dessert 05:53 Relaxing Inside the Campervan 08:11 Solo Izakaya Night 08:40 Grilled Scallops, Shiitake & Satsuma-age 12:30 Discovering Sadako Camp 13:43 Getting Ready for Bed 14:18 Breakfast After the Storm 18:39 Back on the Road ββββββββββββββ πΏ Featured Channel One of my favorite campervan channels: Sadako Camp Β Β Β /Β @sadakocampΒ Β ββββββββββββββ π Recommended Gear These are similar products I recommend for vanlife and camping in Japan.
