Lunch & Learn: Landslides in WNC

This talk will focus on the types of landslides we see occurring in western NC with a focus on stories from Helene-related landslides. It will also provide information on some of the resources that are available to real estate brokers and their clients. These include what to look for when deciding when to call an expert in and an introduction to the available online landslide maps. It will also touch on what to do prior to and during heavy rain events. Jennifer Bauer, P.G. is a Principal Geologist and Co-owner of Appalachian Landslide Consultants, PLLC. Her career as an engineering geologist began in 2001 after graduating with a geology degree with highest honors from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has worked in the landslide field since 2005, first at the NC Geological Survey, and then as Co-owner of ALC starting in 2011. She grew up in WNC and is passionate about applying that experience to help protect lives, property, and infrastructure in her community.
