John Beag Ó Flaharta - The Town of Carraroe

I uploaded this video recently which was taken from the latest CD release from the legendary Connemara singer John Beag. It was a song written by Bidín Phádhraig Ua Chlocharta about the village of Carraroe. It relays memories of turbulent times in the history of this country. The people of Carraroe played a significant part in the fight for freedom. They were the first people who rose against the land lords during the period of the 'Land Leaguers'. This song was given to me by Bidín's daughter, Mairéad Uí Chonghaile from Bóthar Buí, Carrore. I hope you enjoy listening to this fine song from a fine singer ! Slán LimerickLad (Anthony)
