S2-E5 Day 1 of My Namibia Off-Road Adventure: Conquering the Namibian Dunes!

Join me as I kick off my multi-day adventure in Namibia, starting from the “Untamed Africa” Base in Walvis Bay. In this first episode, we tackle the soft Namibian sand dunes, riding 80 km across stunning landscapes. From the dunes behind Walvis Bay Airport to the breathtaking Moon Landscape Viewpoint, this ride was no easy feat. We end our day at the amazing Goanikontes Oasis Rest Camp, where I’ll share my review of this desert gem. Day 1 Riding: We Started from “Untamed Africa” Base in Walvis Bay, then we headed to the Dunes just behind the Walvis Bay Airport area, & then headed North East towards Moon Landscape Viewpoint 4 , and finally reached or final destination of the day where we spend the night at Goanikontes Oasis Rest Camp. We did approximately 80km of riding where 85% of that was soft Namibian sand dunes. It was not easy. The the Goanikontes Oasis Rest Camp, a beautiful lodge and retreat in the heart of the Namibian desert, managed by the warm and welcoming family of Rene, Charles, and Dirkie. This family-owned gem is truly made by the people for the people, offering a kind, relaxing, and unforgettable experience. The Goanikontes Oasis Rest Camp is a perfect resting spot after a long journey through the desert from Walvis Bay. The facilities are top-notch, including a bar, restaurant, beer garden, and well-maintained restrooms. Families with children will appreciate the small playground and zoo, making it a kid-friendly destination. The rooms are excellent, scoring a perfect 5 for comfort and cleanliness. The service provided by the staff is exceptional, always friendly and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels at home. The location is unbeatable, offering stunning desert landscapes and a tranquil environment for a peaceful getaway. Food lovers will be delighted by the great food served at the restaurant, with local, lekker, traditional, and tasty dishes. The special desert dinners offered are a must-try, creating a unique dining experience under the stars. For those seeking adventure, the camp offers guided tours and special activities like scorpion hunts, which are both entertaining and educational. The rugged, unspoiled environment is a hiker's paradise, inviting you to explore the beauty of the Namibian desert. Safety is a priority, and the camp provides a secure environment for all guests.
