E21 Roz’s Dirt & Drift Adventure - Warwick to Lightening Ridge NSW

Sunday 24/9/2023: I bid goodbye to my bestie of 35 years Mimma and now starts the adventure homebound to Western Australia…the long dirt way there! I’ve been off the saddle for almost a week, so I start the day off easy on the blacktop towards lightening ridge. Regular pit stops & little explorations off the main roads, I find some beautiful little spots to waypoint in my maps. I bump into another great Facebook friend Debi Bancroft who I’d never met in real life before and yet here we cross paths in this tiny little outback town, she on her way to the Scrapper Rally! Gold! So here I was thinking I was going to have a cruisey first day on the blacktop to cover some ground and the last 100+ kms throws up a dirt road with more animals than Steve Irwin’s outback zoo! 😂 Dodging sheep, kangaroos, emus, goats, cattle and even a snake, made riding into the glaring setting sun a real challenge indeed! I rolled into Lightening Ridge just on dusk…in one piece! Lol.
