Deep learning for image-based plant phenomics
Ian Stavness of the University of Saskatchewan as he discusses efforts at the Plant Phenotyping and Imaging Research Center in Saskatoon, SK, Canada for collecting, organizing, pre-processing, and analyzing images of crop breeding fields. The webinar is related to his Frontiers in Plant Science article. Date recorded: Monday, March 4, 2019, 11am CST Associated article: Deep Plant Phenomics: A Deep Learning Platform for Complex Plant Phenotyping Tasks Read the article: https://doi.org/10.3389/fpls.2017.01190 Additional Resources: Abstract: Image-based plant phenotyping is being rapidly adopted in plant physiology and plant breeding research. Extracting phenotypic information from images of plants and crops remains a core challenge for the field. Deep learning approaches have shown promising initial results for meeting the challenge, particularly for outdoor images of plant and crops that are captured under highly variable conditions in terms of lighting, wind, and ground background. In this talk, I will discuss our efforts at the Plant Phenotyping and Imaging Research Center (P2IRC) in Saskatoon, Canada for collecting, organizing, pre-processing and analyzing images of crop breeding fields.
