Founded back in the early 1980s, Corrosion Of Conformity are still going strong after various personnel changes and long hiatuses. In 2019, the band from North Carolina had something to celebrate: their genre-defining album “Deliverance” was 25 years old. There are two constants in the work of Corrosion Of Conformity. The first: The personnel carousel always turns particularly quickly with the southern band; there has been a constant coming, going and returning throughout their career. The second constant: Founded in their student days, the musicians have had no fear of contact with other genres and scenes over the years. For example, they never saw metal and punk as opposing musical genres that could not be united. On the contrary: they got stuck in and tried to bring both styles to a musical denominator. Corrosion Of Conformity push and shove hardcore punk, metal and stoner rock into their often aggressive, fast sound, which they consistently combine with political lyrics.Throughout their career, the band has positioned themselves with clear statements against nationalism and right-wing conservatism; they have also been involved with Greenpeace and Amnesty International, among others. In 2019, Corrosion Of Conformity had something to celebrate. “Deliverance”, their genre-defining album, was 25 years old.
