[CAP JAMS] A $35 Fix? SliXshot vs. Factory Cones
After a year and a half of shooting black powder revolvers, I have fallen in love with SliXshot cones. In fact, it was love after first cylinder. This $35 investment has made these reproductions a joy to shoot. Some might argue that adding a stainless steel part to a repro will take away from its aesthetic value... I say: It's a reproduction, not an actual colt. Have fun with it. Here are the reasons I love these things: These cones are stainless so it's easier to see and clean the fouling. They are wider so the cap has more friction holding it on. They don't cover up as much of the combustible material inside of the cap. They have 2 vent holes on the side walls which allow for: 1.) Consistent deformations of the cap that blow out 2 sides of the cap and allow the other 2 sides to hold on to the cone 2.) Reduced blowback on the hammer (reduced the chance of a cap falling in the action), A longer cone itself which allows the hammer to strike the cap 0.5mm before it normally would have with a factory cone. Since the hammer hits it with slightly more tension on the spring, it is less likely to be blow back as much after pulling the trigger. Please allow for a little patience with the speed of the order being shipped due to current restrictions and shortages in the workforce. I've ordered 3 sets over the last 18 months and products arrived in about 3-4 weeks. You will not be disappointed with these cones!
