So this game is an MMO I played as a kid that I'd feel confident betting upon that none of you have ever played. It was a complete bomb, so much so that as a child playing it I didn't even know it was an MMO with other players intended to be walking around until I bumped into one months into playing the game! The game nowadays is semi-lost. The client is downloadable through third-party websites but the architecture to host a server for the game is long gone. The best I've been able to get is for the client to boot to the log-in screen, at which point I of course get some request error upon an attempt to log-in. I tried to reach out to those who worked on it as to a possible patch or workaround, but most were completely off the grid of course, not that I'd expect them to drop everything for this. Anyway, the sound files for this game were of a non-specific .snd extension. I at first thought that this would represent some format proprietary to the game's Alice engine. Turns out: No! Each file was a simple WAV format but each byte had been XOR-encrypted with a key of 0x69. Running each file through a decryptor with the given key, I got plain-old .wav files! As far as I know, this is the first and only archive of these sound files (most of which tailor-made for the game itself) anywhere on the internet. The client itself is hard enough to get a copy of, but previously it was only possible to play these sound files if the client triggered it to be so, which itself was largely only possible by responding to request responses from the server which ding ding ding doesn't exist anymore. Hope you all enjoy! Crossing my fingers this upload reaches some clever eyes and we can get an effort going to recover or reverse-engineer the server response bodies the client is expecting, though I doubt it. First we'd need to decompile the client to a decent state, then we'd need to look at each response's client response and match the usage of various unknown data types back to many schemas.
