Why Most Coaches Never Make Money
One of the strangest things about the coaching industry is that some of the best coaches I know struggle to make a living… …while some of the worst seem to have more clients than they know what to do with. Why? Because being a great coach and building a successful coaching business are not the same thing. In this video, I talk about the trap so many coaches fall into: endlessly studying, collecting certifications, reading books, and trying to become the perfect coach, whilst neglecting the skills required to actually build a business. We explore the importance of learning to value yourself, communicate your value, market yourself, and sell your work ethically. I also share why spending less time worrying about how you look online and more time getting out into the real world, meeting people, coaching people, making mistakes, and building genuine experience can accelerate your growth faster than almost anything else. Because coaching isn’t something you learn solely from books. It’s something you learn from people. From conversations. From successes. From failures. From discovering what works for you and what doesn’t. And perhaps most importantly, from having the courage to stop copying everyone else and build a business that reflects who you are. If you’re a coach, mentor, therapist, healer, or simply someone trying to build a business around helping others, I hope this helps. ============================= As a bit of background, my name is Jamie White. For the past 20 years I’ve been exploring what it means to live well. My work sits at the intersection of coaching, business, personal development, wellbeing, psychology, relationships, performance, and purposeful living. I’ve built businesses, worked with founders, entrepreneurs, coaches, and leaders around the world, and spent countless hours studying what helps people create meaningful, successful, and fulfilling lives. Along the way, one thing has become increasingly clear: Most people don’t need more information. They need better conversations. Conversations that help them think more clearly, see themselves more honestly, move through what’s holding them back, and take meaningful action towards the life they want to create. That’s why I believe coaching matters. The world is facing enormous challenges. More people than ever feel overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain, or stuck. Great coaches help people navigate those challenges. They help people reconnect with themselves, realise their potential, and move towards their goals with greater clarity and confidence. And that’s why I created this channel. My aim is simple: to help coaches become better coaches. Whether you’re just starting out, building a coaching business, or looking to deepen your craft, I hope these videos support you in helping more people create meaningful change in their lives.
