Honda CB350 Twin - Camshaft Replacement
Follow along as I replace the camshaft and rockers in my 1973 Honda CB350G with a refurbished set from Common Motor. This is actually the second time I’ve had to perform this fix. The first camshaft I received had some pitting in the shaft where it passes through the oil seal behind the points advance unit which was causing an oil leak. The awesome folks at Common Motor sent me a replacement kit which is what we’ll be installing today. If your camshaft is looking a little worn out check them out, you’re not going to find a better option for the price. 00:00 Introduction 02:57 Getting started, removing the tank, etc. 05:23 Removing the camshaft cover without removing the engine 06:58 Removing the cam chain tensioner 07:23 Removing the tappet covers and cam bearings 08:12 Removing the cam sprocket bolts 10:03 Removing the camshaft 10:49 On the bench, camshaft pitting, replacement camshaft 13:08 Cam lobe and rocker wear patterns 13:54 Installing the refurbished camshaft from Common Motor 16:28 Cam timing, aligning the camshaft and the crankshaft 19:20 How to adjust the camshaft position if you're off by a few teeth 21:54 Preparing the rocker shafts for installation 22:22 Positioning the camshaft and crankshaft for cam bearing installation 24:46 Test fitting the camshaft bearings and double checking cam timing 25:50 Installing the camshaft bearings 26:10 Installing the cam chain tensioner 27:32 Adjusting the cam chain tensioner 28:27 Setting the valve clearances 30:39 Installing the cylinder head cover 31:37 First start with the refurbished camshaft and rockers 32:24 Noisy valves 33:49 Rechecked the valve clearences, let's try this again 34:03 Valves sound much better 34:28 The sweet sound of a Honda twin! #CB350 #CamshaftReplacement #CommonMotor
