PlanetPenguin Racer (2005) - Retro Gameplay (FULL HD 1080p 60FPS) (Christmas Special)
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE! In this video I play PlanetPenguin Racer from 2005 (version 0.3.1), a obscure Tux Racer fork which is a enhanced version of the GPL-licensed Tux Racer demo v0.61/0.61a, which was made for Windows and Linux. This rare Windows version I found it on the archived original website of PlanetPenguin Racer (on Internet Archive), this Windows version being almost lostware. This game have some modifications at graphics, and slightly at menus. I somehow played the events of it and also the included tracks of them. Also I seen that it included some tracks and some events that were not present in the stock Tux Racer installation. Also maybe someone heard about it, but personally I consider it a lost treasure. Also the page of this obscure Tux Racer fork called PlanetPenguin Racer is no longer available, also the BerliOS repository is not available, and also the site of the Windows version of PlanetPenguin Racer, but the sites are available in a archived form at the Internet Archive. The reason I put this video was for historic purposes. This game I ran on Windows XP Professional SP1 on real hardware (no VM), recorded using the VGA Out of the PC connected to a VGA to HDMI adapter which is connected to a USB HDMI Video Capture stick connected to my Ryzen 7 5700 PC, which was used for capturing. Also I Posted it as a 20th Anniversary revisiting and as a Christmas Special. PC used for gameplay is my temporary testbed setup which hosted the following components (this is another testbed setup, sometime will became a full-blown Retro PC): AMD Sempron 2200+ (Thoroughbred B core) (Socket A) (FSB 333MHz) @ 1.5GHz 512MB DDR-400 RAM Infineon (2x 256MB kit) GIGABYTE GA-7VT600P-RZ Motherboard (VIA KT600 + VIA VT8237 chipset) ASUS V9180SE REV 1.00 NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX440 with AGP 8X 64MB AGP 8X video card Western Digital WD Caviar SE WD800JB-00JJC0 80GB IDE ATA100 HDD on Primary IDE Master No Computer Case (soon when it will became a full-blown Retro PC build will have a case, now it is in a caseless testbed setup) Realtek ALC655 AC'97 Audio onboard 6 Channel This video is also FULL HD 1080p 60FPS! COMMENT, LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE WITH NOTIFICATIONS! Also, I am on Twitch! / twitchalecu Also links to the now-defunct PlanetPenguin Racer websites (thankfully archived by Internet Archive) (for historical preservation): -https://web.archive.org/web/200512111...
