UN-backed DR Congo force launches offensive

The United Nations backed forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo have launched an offensive against a rebel group called the ADF. The troops are moving into positions held by an alliance of rebel groups who have operated in eastern Congo since the mid-2000s. The army are using heavy weaponry to drive the rebels out.
